Review of Bakuman -

Type - Manga

Chapters - 176

Bakuman is a manga series based on the life of two boys Akito Takagi and Mashiro Moritaka, who one day decide to become mangaka and the manga follows their life and times as they struggle their way through the manga industry. The manga is written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata, the team responsible for creating "Death Note".
Anyways, moving on.... Akito Takagi becomes the story writer and Mashiro Moritaka becomes the illustrator for the team and they together call themselves Ashirogi Muto. Mashiro promises the girl he likes that he shall marry her when they get an anime and Azuki (Mashiro's crush) becomes a voice actor in that anime.
The story is set for them trying to get serialised in Weekly Shonen Jump, the most popular shonen manga magazine. They meet new rivals, new friends and ambitious and sometimes rude editors.

Bakuman is a manga which does not entirely take you in its own world by a massive force and rather just allows you to take a peek into their lives. Character development is what I felt was pretty ok. Mashiro is boring and so is his girlfriend, Azkui. Akito on the other hand, is one of the better characters here along with Fukuda Shinta and Hiramaru. So, I'll give 6/10 here.

In terms of story, Bakuman has really in-depth analysis of the manga industry but the story seems kind-of predictable most of the times. So 7.5/10

Design of Bakuman is really amazing, considering the pages filled with dialogues all over. So I'm gonna give it 8/10 here.

On the negative side, Bakuman has way too many dialogues. One chapter of Bakuman will take you as much time as 4-5 chapters of Berserk.

Overall, I'll give it 6/10. Bakuman is a decent series on some parts and on some parts, it becomes a drag. But it's all up to you whether you like infuriatingly slow and dull characters or not....
